Benefits include comparison of various testing methods, use of the Association of Official Seed Analysts Rules for Testing Seeds in conducting standard germination tests and a list of standardization problems associated with seed vigor tests.

Value of the Badge:

Earning the Seed Quality badge indicates a student has compiled a comprehensive laboratory report highlighting the outcomes of various seed testing methodologies to assess the quality of two seed lots. The student has interpreted or explained test result similarities or differences between tests and lots. The scientific laboratory report includes introduction, methodology, results, data summary and specific additional questions about Standard Germination Test, Tetrazolium Test, Accelerated Aging and Cold Germination Test.
